If you were looking at the Panasonic GF1 yesterday with lust in your eyes and excitement in your pants, you’ll be happy to know that local details have ben announced.
Landing in October, the GF1 will cost $1649 with one of two different kit lenses included – either a LUMIX G VARIO 14-45mm/F3.5-5.6 ASPH./MEGA O.I.S. lens or a LUMIX G 20mm/F1.7 ASPH lens.
Also landing in October are two new micro four-thirds lenses: a LEICA DG MACRO-ELMARIT 45mm/F2.8 ASPH/MEGA O.I.S macro lens with a 35mm equivalent of 90mm for $1549 and a LUMIX G 20mm/F1.7 ASPH pancake lens for $799.
It’s taken an age, but I think the micro four-thirds standard is actually starting to become a really attractive option…

Friday, September 4, 2009 at 12:42 PMaustralia is such a f#cking ripoff. then we have to listen to the companies try to justify why we pay so much for something that comes from japan (i.e. closer to aust than US)

Friday, September 4, 2009 at 1:10 PMTotally agree, USD$900 is AUD$1,074 at the moment NOT $1649 Panasonic are doing the best they can to price themselves out of the market. Guarenteed its a ‘Your economy is better than theres so you can afford it’ type grab for cash.
Hopefully cameraWarehouse has it alot cheaper, usually do.

Thursday, September 10, 2009 at 1:10 PMBS pricing for sure, but have you guys seen the RRP for the 7-14 lens? $2.2k!!! It can be had on ebay for $1100. However, you’ll get hit with GST on the way in. Lame.
Hopefully, you can get it from some of the US dealers when it becomes availible. None of the big retailers do it, but some of the smaller ones will mark down the price in order to avoid GST. Personally I think it’s totally arse you get hit with GST when you’re importing items for PERSONAL USE. They say they abolished tariffs, so why the hell are they hitting me with 10% on items purchased outside Australia? I DIDN’T GET THE SERVICE HERE!
