Despite the fact that the Cowboys’ new 54-metre HD screen has already blocked a punt and the NFL season hasn’t even started yet, the league is going to let it stay put. At least this year.
The screen, which Titans punter AJ Trapasso pegged on Friday, hangs 27 metres above the field, which is just low enough to be in the way of seriously high punts. If it gets hit again the ball is ruled dead, the clock is set back and the play is done over. If it happens a lot this season, however, look for the league to force Jimmy Jones to spend a couple million bucks to move it up a few metres. [NFL via Engadget]

TYPICAL ARCHITECT-DESIGNED PROJECT:
Architects are famous for pushing their “vision” while not knowing JACK-SQUAT about whatever it is they’re enclosing in their buildings…. and at the same time hiding behind their professional seal and managing to avoid any liability when their designs cause people problems… as this so clearly is doing.
Welcome to the High School gym where the volleyball sometimes hits the practice basketball hoops, even when the janitor cranks them up into the “store” position. No problem, just re-play the point.
Except… this is the NFL…. there are $$millions at stake… and ….. any amateur football fan could have predicted the screen would eventually be hit with a punt or kick-off or whatever.

Just goes to show you how much the media blew this out of proportion.
Noone is actually getting near it so far in a real time situation in a game!
