Uhm.. not that i really am seeing a benefit of these tables for myself and all but, that comment kinda Says to me "If Apple designed it this way, I must use it in this manner and no other. They know everything. I know nothing."
Who cares is Apple wanted it or not. Sheesh!

Besides, I can see how these would be useful for a classroom setting.

@lucky_you: I suppose its all preference, but I hated the "in desk" monitors they had set up in our computer labs at school. Not only did it hurt our necks, but it also positioned the monitor's glossy screen just right so that they would reflect the glare from the overhead florescent light tubes making it nearly impossible to view the screen without the lights completely off. I assume the same problem would exist here since iMacs all have glossy screens too.

This is a HUGE benefit to those of us who wear bifocals (and one day YOU will). I got rid of my iMac because of neck pain.

If you're already using one of those abysmal, flat laptop-style keyboards, this desk will let you complete the "I'm working on a laptop!" experience.

Minus the mobility, of course.

These angles are just better for the neck. I was actually gonna make a table like this at one time, but well, got lazy. There were plenty of desks that did this for the crt monitors, but this is the first I've seen for a flat screen (or iMac)

You create more stress on your eyes if your monitor is sitting up right. You have to keep your eyes wide open to look and view it. This creates an unusually far retraction of ur eyelids drying out your tears. Looking down has the opposite effect. It keeps your eyes moist. Also as for your neck, your body strains to keep it upright to look at a monitor. By looking down you allow your head to be positioned in a more relaxed state. Ergonomically this table reduces the stress of sitting at you computer screen for long periods of time

Defiantly targeted for class rooms, not home use. Teacher is able to get eyes on student making sure they are not sleeping.. Most important so the student can see teacher coming and use Expose to hide all windows!

@Nick: I remember back during the DOJ-Microsoft settlement discussions when Microsoft proposed that part of the settlement would be MicroSoft donating free PCs to school districts across the country.

Apple shit a brick over it because that was an enormous part of Apple's market.

I think this company is just taking the complaints about the iMac chin too seriously.

Makes sense for schools, not so much for home. Since it sits in the hole like that all the cables can be more easily locked and the computer it self has less chance of falling due to some one knocking into it. Having to look down may not be the best for one's neck but this is probably one of the best ways to fit a whole hell of a lot of computer into a space that I have seen.

I am happy with my iMac sitting on my desk.

Sitting straight up, my eyes are level to the center of the screen.

Yeah, these look to me like an institutional / classroom thing.

this kind of makes sense. some people like their screen down low *my entire family* and it bugs the shit out of me. My mom had a flowerpot iMac and the screen was all the way down, tilted up at all times. So I can see where people want to be able to look down at their screen. I prefer to look up so that's why mine's sitting on a box...

Hurts my neck just looking at it.
