There may be some question marks over the legality of using your phone as a GPS device, but the chances of you getting booked increase exponentially if you don’t mount your phone in a windshield bracket. Fortunately, the guys at iLuv have released an iPhone windshield mount so you don’t have to worry about it.
There are two models available – a $30 version with just the bracket for mounting your iPhone vertically or horizontally, or a $50 version which also comes with a charging adapter and iPod cable for your car’s cigarette lighter that lets you keep your iPhone charged. Which is probably a good idea if you’re going to be using your already power hungry iPhone as a full-time satnav…

It is illegal under Australian design Rules to mount anything on the windscreen of a car, other than an approved rear vision mirror, if such device obscures the drivers forward vision in way. Even those fluffy dice are technically illegal, and I have known of people booked for said dice hanging from the rear view mirror.
