Yeah, which is it's only downside really. Here's hoping HTC can work some magic with the upcoming update. Saying that, reports of lag have been exaggerated.

I agree that the West needs to see more of the cool devices only available in China and Korea but don't forget about the HTC Hero and Samsung Galaxy... to name but a few of the non-LG Android phones out there.

@DefineStatutory: So wouldn't it also be inane to think that Dell didn't jump into the game with a similar phone because its competitors did so? To my knowledge it's been a while since the made a PDA device and making a phone right now seems to be in reaction to other phones successes.

It's the natural progression of technology. Though that progression many times does have a negative stigma attached to it. But I have the feeling when they designed the phone they thought, " what did the iphone, pre, etc do right?".

@dingus: Yeah, just what I was thinking. But apparently it's not that hard to theme Android, so you could probably go to a different theme/icon set (or just back to the default) with minimal effort.

Got to see it in my own hands to make the judgment. I think only the bottom kind of looks like the Pre, but only from the front. If you look at the side pictures, it's completely different; it curves sharply down, while for the Pre it's more like a smooth stone.

@ClutchDude: It's still one of the better looking Android phones out there. I'd get one just to play around with Android in a live environment (instead of the emulator).

It took a good solid minute of staring to figure out that that's the standard Android dock. Funny how some fugly icons and a terrible theme can make a pretty OS look like crap.

How is the interface horrendous? Does it take 10 taps to make a phone call? Does it only offer your phone book in one organized way? Is the entire touch interface a Charlie Foxtrot?

Dell would have to make something so magical with fluffy bunnies and unicorns to actually make me want to buy one of their products again.

I generally am not for refusing to buy from a company, but Dell is the one exception for me.

It's a horrible mutant freaaaak! Kill it. Kill it with fire. Or firmware. Kill it with firmware.

Actually it's software looks about ready to kill itself. Because when I think of Dell i think of great user experience.
