I don't understand...why is there space between the books? I'd take that $28 to my local used book store and just buy more books...if I had any empty shelves.

@Pope John Peeps II: It's actually a terrible design. Look at the one on the left. What's to keep it from swinging 180° once there's force applied to the other end? Those rubber balls on the end will act as swivels.
