It had to happen. Microsoft has announced that from September 22, they’ll be cutting the price of the Elite console to $449, shaving $100 off the RRP. On top of that, people who pick up the new Elite between September 22 and October 20 will get a free copy of Halo 3: ODST.
Meanwhile, the Arcade version remains at $299 and the Pro version will remain at $399 “while stocks last”.
It looks like Sony’s run as “not the most expensive console” was pretty short, huh?

thats interesting, ps3 and xbox are both $300 in the US, yet the xbox is $50 cheaper here. why do Sony seem to prefer the US to Australia MORE than Microsoft? a US company?
Either that or maybe its cause the ps3 is doing better against the xbox here than in is in the US, thus the xbox needs to be more competitive?

i read somewhere, one of the excuse *ahem* *cough* *splatter* reasons i mean, is that we are suppose to be comparing to the EURO – 511* for the ps3 in euro.
but yeah wish it wasn’t so either :D

we can drop it off a tall building and set it on fire to make it as reliable as the xbox if you want?

ahahahha. but if you look at it objectively and from a h/w you get more bang for your buck with the new ps3. That’s my opinion anyway :)
