Yesterday the guys from Xbox showed us a demo of the new Zune Video marketplace for Xbox Live. Here’s the presentation from the event. You can’t really tell the scaling of the video quality as The Dark Knight starts on YouTube, but trust me, it’s pretty good to watch in the flesh…

Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at 4:14 PMlooks cool! nice and painless to use.
makes sense as a rental service too.
do you get 5.1 sound?
still, I’ve been watching bluray rips compressed to around this quality before, they kick the shit out of DVD, even tho they are the same size, but its still not quite as good a bluray.
can we stream these for free? as in not counting towards our downloads? what isps do this?
anyway, it won’t be long until it’s as good as bluray quality wise, but when it comes to buying a movie to own, I’d still prefer bluray; more flexible, less prerequisites, more reliable.

Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at 5:31 PMWith iiNet none of your Xbox traffic is counted toward your DL totals which is fantastic.
I’m looking forward to this as a perfect alternative to the cr@ppy telstra bigpond movies.
Also he mentioned 5.1 1080p at the start too.

Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 6:18 PMPeer-to-Peer (ie, multiplayer gaming) is still not included in the free traffic of iiNet.
WestNet, being owned by iiNet, also offer free Xbox Live traffic (again, excepting multiplayer).
