Holy shit. The initial accident is bad enough, but the creators of this texting PSA, not content with the usual scare tactics, add in some flying glass and a neck crunch to hammer things home. Then the second car appears.
The video was done with local actors by the Gwent police department, to be shown in area schools as part of a 30-minute deterrent movie about “texting while driving.” It’s effective, violent and bloody. That’s probably the point.
Anything like this being shown in the U.S.? [BBC News - Thanks, Matthew]

looks pretty effective. I wouldn’t have shown exactly what went wrong though, showing the car slowly wandering in to the opposite lane, kinda makes the message “don’t wander over into the opposite lane while texting while driving”.

I cant help but think that making it illegal to talk on a non handsfree phone whilst driving (as it is here in NSW, Australia) might actually increase the risk. Im sure many of us would have replied or sent texts whilst driving rather than answering a voice call and risk being seen by a passing police car. Its much easier to talk and drive than it is to text and drive, at least you can still watch the road whilst talking. Texting is far more dangerous as you are taking your eyes off the road.
That being said, both practices are dangerous and I think this is an effective video.

Being a teenage girl is dangerous to your health.

had the same as you, I think I saw that phone go out the window.
I stopped watching halfway, that’s how effective it was for me at least, although the Drink Driving ads down here are less gruesome to that point, yet they do leave out all that bone crunching.
