Look Familiar? Bell Canada’s Palm Pre Ad Mimics The iPhone

What’s more unsettling than Tamara Hope’s Palm Pre ads? Just how similar Bell Canada’sPre ad looks to the iPhone spots we’ve seen for years. Everything from upbeat music to the disembodied hand is there. Watch them side-by-side:
I guess there are only so many ways you can sell a phone, but that’s pretty damn similar. And if mimicry is the best form of flattery…
I like the Palm Pre commercial. Interestingly though, the Google maps app doesn’t really rotate the way it did on the commercial; unless it’s a new version of Google maps that hasn’t been released to existing owners.
The iPhone’s commercial on the other hand doesn’t emphasize why the iPhone is unique. Shazam is a 3rd party app that’s available for other smartphones not just the iPhone. It would be nicer to see an iPhone commercial that demonstrates functions that set them apart from other smartphones.
