Kogan Cuts Price Of Its Agora Netbooks

Gizmodo AU

Even though it wasn’t exactly the best netbook I’ve ever looked at, the Kogan Agora 10-inch was still noteworthy for being cheap. And now it’s even cheaper, dropping $100 for both the base model and the “premium” version.

You can now pick up the 10-inch Agora, which features the gOS Linux operating system and 1GB RAM, for just $399, while the Agora Pro – which bumps up the RAM to 2GB, includes a little USB Bluetooth module and a six-cell battery – can be picked up for $439.

Whether or not you want to tackle the questionable Wi-Fi and the OS difficulties I experienced when reviewing it is completely up to you.

To be honest once you have put the RC of Windows 7 on it – you don’t have to worry about the OS difficulties you had earlier (oh and spring for the extra Ram -sooo worth it)

      Iain,

Windows 7 might be OK, but I’m not paying $350 for the product’s non-OEM licence when the RC sunsets in a few months. That’s more than the cost of the netbook.

Thanks anyway, but I’ll stick with Ubuntu.

I bought a Kogan AgoraPro at the end of April after checking out the other netbooks by reading the reviews on the net and in magazines Seriously considered the MSI Wind but went for the Kogan as it had more memory, longer battery operation and was cheaper.Had the opportunity to compare it with my son’s 9.5 hr battery operation 10″ ASUS EEE-PC and I think for the money, I have done extremely well . Have tried many other OS on it including an nLited Windows XP. I have restored the gOS to it for simplicity and with the help of Prism, Google apps. and the Ubuntu repository it is doing everthing I want a netbook to do other than having GPS and 3G.
