It’s A “Good Sign” When Everyone Thinks New Nintendo Stuff Sucks

Sometimes, I wish my brain processed reality with this kind of incredible logic. Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata says the fact that you think the Wii Vitality sensor is lame balls is actually a “good sign” for Nintendo.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking.”

And let me tell you, the Virtual Boy was absolutely groundbreaking. I’m sure the Vitality Sensor will be at least that excellent. [Nintendo Dpad via Go Nintendo]

I understand what he’s getting at. If everyone loves everything they do, then maybe they aren’t pushing the boundaries enough. I think that’s a smart line of thought to follow – to an extent – and I’m glad Nintendo is following it.

However, when something is universally panned, I think you might be pushing the boundaries of the idea to breaking point.

    … what!

“clearly being equally awesome every time isn’t very creative, we’ve decided to release a shit product to show we can think outside the box”

    most importantly:
    groundbreaking !(necessarily)= good and/or useful

The only real improvement they could make on a WII would be: Making Super Mario bros able to scratch their own arse in SMB3, using the WIImote.

Ok, groundbreaking? right! Becouse it really make you think in saving money and buy a decent, althought, fatty PS3. I hope Mr. Iwata learn from others sad anecdotes, like the other “groundbreaking” mistake known as Lisa II from apple. Technologically was “superb”, “fabulous” but mate. . . it didn’t work, cost a lot, and finnish last on sales that year.

You’re on a bussines, hence make money. Try not to lose it.
