Ornamental fish are famous for being hypochondriacs. Sure, he may cure their runny noses and scraped knees in the short term, but by indulging their psychopathology, he's only creating more problems for their owners in the long run.

Turtles on the other hand, if a turtle complains, best to take it seriously. There's a reason why most veterinarians advise yearly colonoscopies for turtles after age 10.

@Kaiser-Machead: My beta got popeye and I used antibiotic tablets but it died anyway. Then all the fish at school got sick and they used the tablets and I was like...umm I have a bunch of those. They're like $25...could have saved them some money.

But then everyone went home for winter break and nobody was assigned to feed the fish. One survived.

I love my goldfish. They make a good meal for my oscar fish! Seriously though... They are hard to keep. All my goldfish died within one year. They need a big tank and plenty of fresh water. Couldn't keep up.

And here I've been using "ick" drops and antifungal tablets like a sucker. I'd eat em, but I'm told goldfish taste like shit, or shitty fish, or fishy shit. Whichever flavor has the highest proportion.

I've always loved goldfish as a kid. The orandas were my favorites, but gawd were they messy critters. They needed a good amount of filtration, considering that carp have no stomachs.
