It looks like there’s always going to be a tradeoff when choosing software to move media from your PC to a PS3, Xbox 360 or any of the other DLNA-compatible hardware that plugs into your TV. PlayOn, for example, has built-in support for Hulu, ESPN, CNN, Netflix, and CBS—but it costs $US40 and can’t handle RSS, audio or photo streaming. For our money, we’d go with TVersity, mostly because there’s no money involved. [TubeCentric]

Nice ad for a company selling services to run on DLNA servers. Obvious entries missing, presumably because tubecentric doesn’t support them, are ushare and mythtv.

and PS3 Media Server which I’m pretty sure ticks all the boxes and is dead easy to set up… Just install and it works..

Oh and +1 for ushare, incredibly lightweight for it’s feature-set.
Report PermalinkI’m running ushare on a hacked, very cheap Buffalo NAS.. with only 16Mb RAM. Don’t use the DLNA functionality so can’t vouch for it there.. use it for my xbox360 which just needs uPnP..
