Borders Don’t Understand The Concept Of A Universal Remote

Gizmodo AU

borders-catalogThis is the cover of the latest Borders catalogue. Obviously Borders don’t actually understand that once you invest in a universal remote, you don’t actually need to keep your five other remotes on the couch next to you while you watch TV.

The catalog did get one thing right though: A universal remote would make a great father’s day present

Universal Remotes are over rated, they have no way of knowing what the TV’s are already set to. I’m not going to spend hours programming in devices and macros, eff that. Much less for my Dad.

bOBby, I used to think so too before I got a Harmony … the ‘universal’ remotes of old (still found in supermarkets & ‘clints’) were/are crap.

The Harmony does take a while to setup (good geeky fun!), but has a ‘help’ function that has got my wife & mother-in-law using it!

But, I’m not getting paid by logitech, so if you don’t try one, your loss … :)

      Or your Dads …

I COULD get my dad a universal remote for father’s day, but then I’d have to get him a new TV that actually uses a remote. As well as other remote controlled devices to make the universal one worth while.

lol, yeah, the trick with the logitech remotes is you should ONLY use it, don’t mix and match it with other remotes, cause it will get out of sync, do the right thing and burn your old pile of remotes in a satanic ritual.
