11:20AM August 15, 2009 | Adrian Covert

Just a quick bit out of Hollywood: Universal confirmed that a Battlestar Galactica movie is on the way and will be Produced and Directed by Valkyrie chief Bryan Singer. The movie will not pick up where the SyFy TV Show left off, but rather fall in line more with the original series from the 1970s. Original creator Glen Larson will join Singer as a producer. Booooo and Yay
Booooo because its the original series but kinda remade and will confuse people with the new TV show.
Yay ‘cos its not the re-imagined series, they need to leave that alone, if they start tacking shit onto it now they will ruin it. Though i am looking forward to “The Plan”.

Ok, this seems like a waste.
I mean, I like Singer and I like BSG, but this feels like one of those filler projects to just make money. It’s a no-brainer for the studio, because they have a built in audience and if they ride the excitement still around the show they know they’ll make money.

But on the other hand, die hard sci-fi fans hate this kind of stuff. We just got finished with a great BSG story and we have the Plan coming out soon. So now to throw another movie in that goes against the current continuity (goes back to an old one) could only stem to really upset the current die hard fans. Think of Singer’s last big project “Superman Returns”
    .

The least they could do is get the creators from the re imagined series on board for continuity. Set larsons project during the first cylon war and show how ugly the first cylon war became. Tie it into the caprica universe somehow, with sets and the on screen talent.. being a cinematic production, they could gore the hell out of it and really scare the audience. make them feel the hatred for the toasters that the survivors of galactica re imagined felt.. Moore and Eick and their team have done a brilliant job of providing a continuum for the Galactica universe. It’d be cool to see some r rated toaster rampage action~! centurions performing live labotomies and stuff like that. make me hate them!
