I have no idea whether or not the sign guy at Arthur Philip High School in Parramatta is right in saying that they are the first school in the world to have Windows 7, but if they are – kudos! All other schools now bow before your new Windows OS-owning greatness.
[Thanks Ben!]

Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 12:19 PMThis is in reference to qualifying for the governments Digital Education Revolution program, which provides ICT equipment and infrastructure to schools. This round includes Lenovo laptops built with Windows 7. Other qualifying schools have already, or soon will be able to claim the same. I think any kudos should be aimed squarely at the DER program.

Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 12:22 PMI think you’ll find that it’s part of the government scheme for computers in schools where they are giving a whole heap of lenovo 9″ laptops to kids with Windows 7 Enterprise on it. (However it it only build 7100 (RC-build)).
So it’s not actually the final build of windows 7 running on these things yet.
Not sure if or when they are updating them to the final release.

Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 3:58 PMGo to the schools website and have a look around. On most of the pages there is a Made on a Mac label on the bottom. And the icon for the pages too!

Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 9:55 PM@Mike: Arthur Phillip has the first round of laptops that do have the final release (RTM) of Windows 7 installed, hence the sign out the front. They were delivered on Friday.

Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at 11:05 PMA bit late, but I actually graduated from that school in October. APHS tends to over exaggerate and over-hype everything. They do, however, have hundreds of computers (if I had to guess, I would say around 400 Macs and 200 PCs, though it’s hard to guess now since they started leasing out laptops for a year to Year 7s and so the actual (inflated) numbers are considerably higher).
