Because if it would be a girly thing, those advertisements would be really useless. According to a recently published research article, women are less likely to buy things from vendors of the same sex that look better than themselves. And I'd say, those models with their matchstick legs and pre-pubescent appeal look better (according to those impossible standards women tend to set for themselves) than 99.9% of the possible buyers.
