Jump to the 10:00 mark to hear the explanation. There are only two companies now (Sony and Samsung) doing “true” 240Hz.
The segment after that one explains how to calibrate your HDTV for not a lot of money, similar to our own calibration guide. [Revision3]

Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at 9:16 AMstarted a bit BS saying “you aren’t getting the full framerate of your movie with 60hz” seeing as how EVERYTHING is filmed between 30-24hz. it was interesting about the two different methods, and i also never realized that it may be more important for the US as they have to do 3:2 pulldown for their dvds, where as us in Aus don’t.
the biggest problem i have with 240hz is its name: “240hz”, I,m fairly certain we can only see at around 100hz, or at least process images at 100hz in our head. having said that, the 240hz sets are probably better, but only cause they are newer and have later generations of the motion tweening tech, not because we are “seeing at 240hz”. meaning there is ALOT more difference between 60hz and 120hz (50hz vs 100hz in aus) compared to the difference between 120hz and 240hz
