What’s At The Top Of Your Gadget Wishlist?

Gizmodo AU

Something strange happened to me this afternoon. I realised that for the first time in a long time, there wasn’t a mad, driving itch to buy the latest and greatest gadget. It’s not that I don’t want to buy new toys to play with, it’s more that the key gadgets I’ve always lusted after are already in my possession…

Which is weird for me. I’ve always had a wishlist for gadgets, and over the past year or so I’ve been checking them off, one-by-one. And now, the top of my list is a NAS, which is hardly the kind of sexy gadget you want to show off to all your non-techy family and friends.

But it got me wondering – what kind of gadgets are Giz readers lusting after? And not just in a “that-looks-great-I-must-own-it” kind of way, but in a “I-really-really-want-one-of-those-to-make-my-life-complete” kind of way. Is it a new HDTV? A new smartphone? A USB humping dog? Let us know in comments.

    An ASRock Ion 330BD!
Bluray HTPC in the palm of your hand….
Running XBMC on that thing would be sweet, get a couple of 1tb externals and you’ve got an awesome setup for less than a grand…

I have a potential home theatre room which has been sitting empty for four years. Would love to fill it with some HT goodness.

I feel like my computing requirements are now covered (for a year or so probably). I have a MacBook Pro and an eee 901 for travel, a decent PC at home connected to a WHS server for back-up and remote access. All good. So what I really want now is a decent Smartphone. I use an iPod Touch mostly as a Postcast and eBook player but don’t want an iPhone. Too common! I have an HTC Hero on order so hopefully this will fit the smartphone requirement, and then I too will be all happy with my gadget situation!

I have a Logitech Harmony 1000 which is a great concept but the crap interface (I know it has been dumbed down for idiots) which takes 10 step to modify a single thing and the total lack of customisation irritates the hell out of me. If only we could have this device with a published API what we could code to (Java,C#,C++, I don’t care just something!). Instead I find I still have to have the other remotes on hand for occasional use. Sort of defeats the purpose.

A programmable tablet around A5 size would do the trick nicely.

Also a nice HD video camera would be sweet!
