Wall-Mounted Grill Saves Space, Won’t Burn House Down

If you have a small deck, porch or patio, the Plek 66 offers charcoal grilling in a compact wall-mounted unit.

By the looks of things, you don’t have a whole lot of surface area to cook—but the fact that the storage compartment below can hold around 100 pounds of ashes before cleaning is a big plus. There ialso a storage compartment for your utensils and the whole thing folds up into a lean box shape for additional space saving. And, most importantly, they also note that you can heat things up to 1,112 degrees Fahrenheit without reducing your home to a pile of smoldering rubble. No word on pricing unfortunately, but I wouldn’t go trading in the Foreman just yet if you are on a budget. [Rocal via Appliancist via DVICE]

@bucho54: I'm Happy with IE6, I don't want to switch or update anything.

@Skid-Vicious: Semi-related I was on youtube yesterday using IE6 and it was telling me that soon they wont be supporting it and provided links to firefox chrome and ie8

@lostarchitect: In NYC your grill has to be 20 feet from your building, so unless it mounts to a fence, you aren't grilling legally in NYC anyways.

@Skid-Vicious: Me too with Netscape Navigator 4

even with the vent, I think that stucco is going to be black with smoke stains after 1 summer

Like this idiot, wait for 1:45 in "dude you should take the top off"

I'm having problems with this new Gizmodo style with Internet Explorer 6.

@irfan: No, but you can grill it.

That's cheesy, I hate it. Takes all the fun out of bbqing, it's ugly, it's too small and I'd probably burn my hands flipping the burgers.

  • lostarchitect

@Gann: Depends on where you are. In NYC it would be 3', and the grill itself would *technically* also need to have an MEA number.

I love how that thing just folds right up and is quite compact. The behemoth I have in my back yard requires no less than 12 of my friends and family to move 8 feet across my patio. Look at that damned thing hovering about with a mocking stare, sticking out it's arms as if to say"Look no hands!"

  • NYC2PHX

i can so see that on my apartment patio.

  • Bigbadbikernerd

I'm the type who would forget to empty the damn thing until it was full. Then I would pull out the tray and promptly drop 100 lbs of ash on my feet. I'll stick to my Weber kettle grill thanks.

Note that by code the chimney will have to be 2' taller than anything within 10' of it. What they don't show is the 8' or so of pipe sticking above the edge of the roof, and the less-than-attractive bracing holding it up.

looks like a trash chute. can i toss trash in there and burn it?

@Hiphopopotamus: I don't think that's accurate. I have included built in BBQs and fireplaces on terraces in proposals to the DOB that have passed. They were all gas however, that might be a condition. I should look it up.

  • StarChaser Tyger

@Hiphopopotamus: Same kind of thing in Florida, have to be 10 feet from any inhabited building. Shame, I'd love to have a little grill I could use on my porch.

    @Skid-Vicious:
It's working ok for me on Firefox, but I hate it. Hides most of the comments, and there's no way to NOT hide them. Irritating.
