I know there was a version of the Original Zelda that was rendered with 16-bit graphics and was featured as a playable competitive game on Starcade. Is this the same one? If so, I can definitely see the point in this purchase!

Well, grey versions were given to the winners/runners up of the actual events (the actual ones used in the tournament). The gold ones were from a Nintendo Power contest.

thats lame... painted gold... I had several gold cartridges... I'd say this is worth more because it has the world championships seal on it.. I wouldn't even have mentioned that it's gold... it's unnecessary, since there are other standard cartridges worth a few bucks that are gold.

$16,000 for probably one of the most unique and collectable games of all times doesn't sound too bad to me. Game museums are starting to pop up and collectibility is only going to increase as the first video gamers grow old.

I HIGHLY doubt that this was about money. To be honest 16,000 dollars really isn't an insane amount of money even in this economy. Im sure he wanted it cause he wanted it and thats that.

Well, Fred and Ben Savage needed a way to make some money. But they refuse to sell the PowerGlove, from what I understand.
