Man, people really laid into me for texting while driving as a part of reviewing the N97. It’s unsafe, no doubt, but the reality is, people do it. Do you?

I don’t, it’s dangerous, but I know a LOT of Sydney bus drivers tend to do it. I was out one night with some friends, the driver started texting and calling while he had
me, my friends and about 22 other passengers in his bus.

We tried telling him to keep focussed on his task of not getting us killed. Instead he decided
to get mad and threaten to kick the whole lot of out if we didn’t like it.

@dr_stef, that’s a bit over the top for the bus driver to do that. I rarely do it myself (only when it is important) and when i do, i memorize the keys and feel my way around the keyboard. However, i try not to do that, and i have pulled over a few times. I’m a p plater and i value having my licence

I did it ONCE and that convinced me that it is the WORST thing you could possibly do, I was appalled at how out-of-control you feel, and indeed ARE. Never again, it’s just not worth it.

Occasionally read a text at the traffic lights. Sending a text while driving is virtually impossible on the iphone without looking at it, so even if I dared I would fail, which is probably a good thing :)

Voice to SMS recognition app for iphone?

It’s illegal, it’s unsafe. Don’t do – buy hands free and talk.

Ahh man, I get my rage on so bad when I see people using their phone while driving. Even typing this is getting me angry.

I think it’s the whole idea of them thinking the law doesn’t apply to them, or that they are the type of people who think nothing bad will happen from their stupidity.

As a cyclist, I have experienced first hand how dangerous texting whil driving can be for other road users. I have been almost injured or killed so many times because the driver has been to busy texting to drive properly. I obey the rules, why can’t they?
