Papercraft Castle Is More Gorgeous, Intricate Than Most Real Castles
This unbelievable papercraft project, by Japanese art student Wataru Itou, took over 4 years to create and features lights and a moving train. It’s probably the most stunning papercraft sculpture we’ve ever seen.
The sculpture is called, in English, “A Castle on the Sea,” and is currently exhibited at Uminohotaru, which we assume is some kind of gallery right on the ocean. The entire project, excluding the lights and possibly a few mechanical elements of the train, is made of painstakingly cut and folded paper. Check out a few of these shots, if you don’t mind your socks being rocked clear off your feet and across the room. [Tokyo Bling]

"Thats your resume huh? When can you start"
Gorgeous and intricate maybe, but it's not nearly as tasty as ice cream castles.
Beautiful
@Hi, I'm God: Good luck buddy. Maybe you'll find a girl who likes hairy palms.
I'm sure he coated the paper with something to keep it from rotting and burning. If you notice in the last picture it is inside a Plexiglas case.

@okenny :) ...building bridges (to hide under): I refuse to appologize for comedy, and neither should you. Commit, dammit.
@DaSazonator: You're sick sick sick, and I love it.
@Hi, I'm God: That's patently untrue.
@Hi, I'm God: You know they make a pill for that now, right?
...It's called a "rufie".
Man the Japanese are good at origami. The only thing that would make this more impressive is if he had made it out of a single sheet of paper with only a specific pattern of folds.

beautiful castle but where's the fiery dragon?

Sorry to Mr. Fox and his family
Screw fire! This thing can be foiled by a glass of water and Micheal J. Fox.

So if he's a student - does this project mean he passes the class? i'm guessing he's the procastinor of the class who took 4 years to complete a 4 week assignment. i wonder what grade the teacher gave him...
leaverus
Cool, and he doesn't need a shovel to take it home, unlike the cascading domino setups.

I wanna watch this burn. Just for kicks and giggles.

@Mike Zuniga: True. But then we could have an editor verify whether or not it is worthy of the ban-hammer.

@PN - Long time reader, new commenter.: Oops. is there a rulebook...
@d_r_e: New to commenting... a rulebook that is set for commenters so we don't get the "ban hammer". Thanks
@collegekid13: You're a doctor? Patients?
I wish I had the patience to treat patients with patient patience.
You guys do realize that that is Never Land Ranch right?
@Jedo10: will your face blend?

I wish I had the patience, talent and perseverance.
That's really amazing. So beautiful and detailed. I wish I had even half that patients.

@Jedo10:
Hope you enjoyed your brief visit here at Gizmodo. Don't let the banhammer smash your ass on the way out.
Absolutely amazing. Puts my papercraft Weighted Companion Cube to shame.
Someone needs to get laid.
@nukee: No, because (for example) if a commenter impartial to the whole mac vs pc debate points out the flaws in a fanboy's arguments, the mobs high on Kool-aid would ban the rational person instantly.
im lucky i can draw a smiley face and this guy sculpts this masterpiece from frickin paper no less...just stunning...
But if i devoted 4 years of my life to create something like this...i would be sooooooo pissed if something happened to it...
@nukee: I want to touch it. o_O
@Jedo10: Can we please get a peer banhammer? X votes = a ban.
nukee
Pardon my french. But that thing is fucking beautiful.
nukee
Does it have fire insurance?
@Jedo10: Is the banhammer something that Giz does or something that I can do myself?

@Jedo10:
