Palm Pre’s WebOS 1.1 Update Un-breaks ITunes Syncing
Some healthy escalation in the Palm vs. Apple iTunes scuffle: Though Apple tried to block the Pre from syncing with iTunes, Palm has just struck back with WebOS update 1.1, which again allows Pre-iTunes coupling. [Palm]

Take that apple you cockbats. I really hope palm do keep this battle up and turn this into a competition issue (which it is). You can’t just lock competitors out of your software so you can sell more hardware
In saying that though this isn’t new . This all happened about 12-24 months ago with xbox media center. It used to be able to stream from itunes by hooking into itunes network sharing feature.
Of course apple didn’t like this so changed their interface for i-tunes library sharing locking everyone out except their own products (Apple TV only Booooooooooo!).
Unfortunetly because that project was open source the developers didn’t have the time or the ability to reverse engineer the protocal again.
Hopefully Palm just keep palmfacing apple untill they give up and offer a standard\open interface into Itunes.
Currently to do this, customer has to install some other streaming media software crap which is annoying when Itunes can do it natively but wont because they suck and dont want to let people use their own devices.
Yay for Palm! Yes this could go on for ages, but the more it does, the more it just makes Apple look silly. It’s the consumer who suffers from all this.
