Office 2010 The Movie Doesn’t Star Tom Cruise—Thank Xenu For That

Here’s the trailer for Office 2010: The Movie. And yes, thankfully, there won’t be any Office 2010 movie. It was created for Microsoft by Dennis Liu, who also did the how to pretend you are working video. [Thanks Dennis]

wheres ricky gervais or steve carell?
  • Mark 2000
@apollo89: Are you kidding me? Windows is a cosmetic lift. There's no underlying change to the OS. Remake Windows, hun, or watch the company go down the drain.
  • bustedchain
Any movie where "Clippy" dies early on is fine by me. Hopefully it was painful.

  • The Anti-Fanboy
@midiac: I think this is just the sound of the Mac fanboy wailing at something that probably would have been splattered with his praise had Apple made it instead.
  • jollyrogerjonesy
I can laugh because they included Wingdings.
  • LessthanZach
@Kaiser-Machead: I agree to both kinda. This Microsoft Ad is definitely better than what ever they had prior and is for sure entertaining. But by no means does that detract from the already proven successful Apple ads. Why can't we all just be friends in this?
  • autobott
Ha, did Sheila the "Laptop Hunter" make this?

    autobott

  • oneswellfoop
    I want my 2:16 back.

    oneswellfoop

  • The Nacon
@midiac: Microsoft didn't make this video... Dennis created it FOR them.
  • sharkync
This is way past weak sauce - what a god awful trailer.

    sharkync

  • NicleT
@TheWerewolf - Causing headlines!: Oh! God, these are delightful. Love the three hands Pong match on the oPhone, ha ha ha!

    NicleT

  • banmojo
I'd actually watch a full length feature film that spoofed all things tech for 90 minutes straight. If it was well written. On office 2010.

    banmojo

  • AaronC-T
Haha, this is amazingly well done. I love it.

    AaronC-T

  • jakster4u
If only Microsoft made actual full length movies, Bill Gates Matrix, Excel, Powerpoint, Microsoft the Company, Pirates of the IntraWeb, Outlook 2...

    jakster4u

  • ACDlite
Does that mean Helvetica will be packaged with Office? Or am I just dreaming out loud?
  • nachobel
While I'm sure this is fun to make, I'm pretty sure this isn't making anyone want to go check out Office 2010. Except perhaps the people identifying with the arbitrarily screaming characters, who know that, with this new version, they will indeed be screaming at people to solve simple problems, since there is going to be a completely new way of doing things that is totally nonintuitive and wholly different from how things worked before. I love progress.
  • fightskillz
what a waste, google wave anyone?
  • poorGeek
@alystair: totally awesome! and I thought this was a scary movie type movie... and I'd probably see it (netflix, but I'd watch it)

    poorGeek

  • Andwu
    @TheSonOfKrypton: copy-and-paste that... LOL
  • SkippyTheMarine
I find this trailer to be misleading. It looks awesome, but when I finally do get to see Office 2010, I'll be like: "Where are the effin explosions? Where are the womens in tight leather? Where is the file menu?"

    SkippyTheMarine

  • Coolmodo
I just clicked on play and got the message "Invalid Parameters". Yup a Microsoft production allright.
  • phaota
What was the point in all of that? Seriously. It's a program, not an action flick. Seems Microsoft just wanted to waste more money.
  • apollo89
    @Mark 2000: It's called Windows 7 hun. Try it

    apollo89

  • Qwertyfreak

@billc124: The old crap Apple puts out for the iPhone? You mean where they clearly explain the iPhone's features or different apps available in the App Store?

That sure sounds like good advertising to me.

  • voden

I thought it was from college humor and I found it really funny. I guess just because its from ms, people tend to diss it so much

    voden

  • Jason Pope

OMFG THEY KILLED CLIPPY! You BASTARDS! lol.. had some funny moments for sure..

    Jason Pope

  • Kaiser-Machead

@billc124: Maybe you should look again at those uncreative Mac ads that lack innovation. My opinion, as well as your opinion on the advertisements they dole out is meaningless when confronted with the fact that they remain some of the more recognizable and memorable commercials aired on TV. Even if you hate them with every fiber of your being, they're pretty much signature, and have spawned a plethora of parodies on the internet. They were enough for Microsoft to respond to, so that's saying something.

    Kaiser-Machead

  • Grahmo

@drokcab: Check out Extract if you havent already :) looks decent

    Grahmo

  • haxor911

They should have released this instead of those seinfeld commercials.

    haxor911

  • thexile

They aren't bringing back Clippy, are they?

    thexile

  • joe.glass

    I love the fist-pump-boom! AHHHHHH!

  • redkamel

all they needed was a part where the vilainess said "give my regards to Clippy" and another part where the hero said "I'll see you in hell!" and I think they would have a night-perfect webspot.

    redkamel

  • roque85

Reeks of College Humor. What a copycat.

    Then again, what's new?

    roque85

  • TheWerewolf - Causing headlines!

Microsoft should leave the comedy to their IT group. :)

These were MUCH funnier: The WSYP Program...

and the Microsoft iPod Packaging video...

Oh! And... who can forget the oPhone!

  • tazfan5040

I would actually pay to see that movie.

    tazfan5040

  • craig_16

@kingbob337: Of course they are. They need to bloat it out and slow it down a little more to reflect the faster computers of the next decade.

  • barwe

@Obee Juan: Pretty sure Clippy is no more, and all the fonts are still there. Onenote and Visio are back, etc

    barwe

  • quazi

    WINGDINGS?! RAARAAGHAAGLLGHAAAA!!!

    quazi

  • Karkawry

@Obee Juan: Think you may have missed the point there mate..

    Karkawry

  • MelanieScipio

"Somewhere between Arial.....and Wingdings! Ahahahahahah!!" LMAO!

    MelanieScipio

  • NicleT

Fake. You can feel the clone tool.

    NicleT

  • senorbelly

I'm amazed--that was actually pretty funny!

    senorbelly

  • Mark 2000

Seriously, MS spends more money on their advertising than on R&D and Q&A. Just remake Windows for the 21st Century already and stop dicking around thinking you can never loose.

  • borgseawolf

Why are they talking Polish of all things O.O

  • Kaiser-Machead

@madara: You're right. So right in fact, that I'm clicking that little heart.

    Kaiser-Machead

  • madara

    Better than Transformers 2. ***

  • aec007

    @TheSonOfKrypton: indeed ! LOL!

    aec007

  • Obee Juan

@billc124: What was so great about this advertising? Sure... I found it somewhat amusing, but it didn't really deliver any messages related to the product. Watching this leaves me no more informed as to what Office 2010 will do vs. Office '97. Or vs. Notepad for that matter. Unless you really expect it to transform you into a spy hunter.

    Obee Juan

  • alystair

In all seriousness tho', new OneNote? Awesome.

    alystair

  • alystair

It looks like you're trying to make a movie, would you like help with that?

    alystair

  • JackHoliday

So this thing was actually produced by a company? It's got "made at home by a couple of dorks who took an inside joke waaaay too far" written all over it.

  • NitrousO

@Ben Zvan: Gosh didnt you pay attention to the plot. The reason no one misses him is because of the government coverup done to stop the Chinese from getting ahold of the Fusion Decoupler Drive.

    NitrousO

  • NitrousO

@kingbob337: 0_o Its been like 3 or 4 years since the last one. There is no Office 2008 or 2009.

    NitrousO

  • Ben Zvan

I didn't find it believable; nobody misses Clippy.

  • Kirioth

@midiac: I think you dropped your sense of humour back there.

    Kirioth

  • Purple Monkey Dishwasher

@drokcab: Yeah actually, that is a good point.

    Purple Monkey Dishwasher

  • discounteggroll

agreed...the only good thing to come out of office. Gave me a good laugh though

  • imTheKing

@DingosTookMyBaby: CPB probably fight them to the death to produce even the Laptop Hunter ads. These other productions are probably straight up forced by Microsoft themselves. Two people at CPB told me that Microsoft had been so agitating on the new campaigns, that a few employees at CPB went as far as quitting.

    imTheKing

  • drokcab

@Purple Monkey Dishwasher: I was the exact opposite. I thought for a moment it was a sequel to Office Space, and I definitely do not want that to happen. Office Space is too excellent to be ruined by a sequel.

    drokcab

  • billc124

@midiac: This is far more creative and innovative then the stupid Mac vs. PC ads or the same old crap that Apple puts out for the iPhone. You obviously don't understand good advertising.

    billc124

  • DingosTookMyBaby

How does this come out of the same organization that dumps out the "laptop hunter" ads?

  • NNTPgrip

I wonder if they're gonna have an option for classic menus this time. If they do, I could group policy that and the old file formats and maybe we could actually deploy this one to upgrade from 2003 without any training costs.

  • The Lab

I believe this is the first time microsoft produced something that was actually funny.

  • midiac

Seriously, MS tries and tries and tries. . . to be cool. . . when I just found this F'n stupid. . . Fail.

    midiac

  • W10002

Oh no, I totally missed Office 2007. Well off to Netflix to find it.

  • kingbob337

Wait, im confused, so they are making another office, already?

    kingbob337

  • Purple Monkey Dishwasher

    @districtdon19: WingDings!!! Ahhhhhh

    Purple Monkey Dishwasher

  • imTheKing

MMMM..... this looks like the exact point where the original Office movie has been destroyed. Crazy horrible, not even a little funny.

    imTheKing

  • Purple Monkey Dishwasher

    @TheSonOfKrypton: RIP clippy

    Purple Monkey Dishwasher

  • Purple Monkey Dishwasher

Although I knew it was probably MS Office 2010, I was secret hoping they were coming out with a movie of the Office or a sequel to Office Space

    Purple Monkey Dishwasher

  • fispaul

"Copy and Paste that!" was the best part

  • NitrousO

Awesome. Way better than most of the crap coming out of hollywood.

    NitrousO

  • TheSonOfKrypton

lmao. Win Microsoft. That had me rollin laughing

  • districtdon19

That was good for a few brief chuckles.

    "Word"

    districtdon19

  • Nick2
@madara: NOoooooooOOoo! CLIPPY!!!! This needs to become a full length short film!
