Need more evidence that Nokia just doesn’t get it? Here’s what UK General Manager for Nokia Mike Loughran says about the N97 versus the iPhone 3GS:
“The new iPhone is an evolution rather than a revolution and for people trying to decide whether to get a Nokia N97 or an iPhone, it comes down to a decision on performance and value for money… The new iPhone seems to have the same design and colour, upgrading from a sub-standard two-megapixel camera to a still low 3.2-megapixel camera, and is probably a disappointment for many people given the high tariff and lifetime ownership costs.”
It’s not about specs—and if we are going to go there, what’s up with the N97′s dinky processor—it’s about being usable. I had hope that the N97 is a stopgap until something better to keep Nokia’s head in the game, but quotes like this make me less sure. [Intomobile]

Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 11:09 AMThe UK GM is so far up his behind, that he should have brought his new N97 with him, and call it, so that he’ll continue to get that tingly feeling. hehe

Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 11:36 AMIf I was a social misfit that lived on Facebook I would get an iPhone, but I’m not so I don’t have one.

Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 12:02 PMNokia GM doesn’t get what? So sick of the praise heaped on the iPhone. Not everyone wants an iPhone, there is nothing wrong with the N97. If I had just moved on from the Fisher Price activity centre, the iPhone would be a natural progression, but as I am an adult who doesn’t mind investing the time in learning how to use something, the iPhone is not for me and many others out there.

Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 12:38 PMMorgan Hearst must own an N97 , I don’t use Facebook at all or any other social networking and I have three iPhones in our family . Why? Simple , they are used for both work and personal use, they do exactly what the manufacturer said they would without fail and are simple, easy to use and have great functionality and plenty of applications available easily which are useful day to day. Unfortunately , none of my previous phones , Motorola , Sony-Ericsson , iMate ,HTC , Blackberry or Nokia could do all of this as effectively and reliably. I use both Windows and Mac everyday and I not a brand or platform bigot.A bit of broadening of the mind is highly recommended.

Monday, July 13, 2009 at 6:17 PMI think that the N97 would be getting great reviews if it was on Android. It has great features and design, just Symbian isn’t up to scratch to compete with Android and the iPhone.
