Ramen is a huge business in Japan. Ramen making robot is the logical step, sushi-making robots are currently very common for keiten-sushi (an affordable sushi restaurant on a conveyor belt). Those machines cost between $200k-$1million.

Labor and retail space being expensive, these robots make a lot of sense in more high-traffic areas. High-traffic urban locations in Japan can yield huge volume and these machines can pay for themselves.

@Lupus_Yonderboy: My fave. Ate that stuff like it was, well, ramen, when I lived in Korea. Must-have ingredients for me: red pepper, green bell pepper, raw scrambled egg poured into the boiling broth.

Best to make your own broth rather than the foil packet, but who has three hours to simmer chicken gizzards?

I mean, just with the 3 settings he mentioned (soy, salt, richness), say you can choose 1-100% each... that's already 1 million combinations.

It's sort of like how Burger King can claim you can order the Whopper like 200,000 ways or whatever.
