Just A Stylish ‘Wall Socket’ USB Hub
It’s not a formal wall socket replacement, but this Elecom U2H-TC410B 4-port USB hub will look sharp (and a bit misleading) when mounted to a desk or table.
In all actuality, it’s just a typical 4-port USB hub with a tad more style and a lot of extra space for larger USB devices to plug in. Yes, the hub is a bit expensive at $US40, but when a friend electrocutes himself trying to stick a USB dongle into a wall socket because he saw you do it, the price will seem minuscule next his the medical bills and the subsequent lifetime of misery as his bowels no longer have the patience for toilets. that last sentence actually made me lol for real.

This is a pretty damn good idea if I say so myself. The reason I don't like most USB hubs is they stick out like a sore thumb.
only 4 ports? me need more!!!

@Edog72: I think it's a great idea! Not one that I would pay for, but one that I will make myself.
@Edog72: Because...
Just because your almighty highness doesn't like it?
@Valnen: or in the side of a desktop PC? if properly incorperated, that could be pretty cool!

@Edog72: Im sorry about you always shitting your pants

@tok3ninja: He was THAT friend that got electrocuted from sticking a usb dongle in an outlet.

My computer is right near a wall. Would be cool to stick these on my wall.
@Edog72: Can you entertain us as to why?
@One Man Freak Show: If you think this is a power outlet and plug something in, nothing significant will happen. USB's only 5 volt. Now if you manage to plug USB into the wall... (too bad it won't fit.)
Looks like an outlet thats been plugged into a few too many times.
@EBone: I know Southwest has these next to standard electrical outlets in their terminals.

@undefined: gotta be vertical or it's a spill/dust magnet
Im surprised it took anyone this long to come up with this.
Seen these mounted in Airports for travelers to charge up.
@masbo99: You could use it to run wired devices while sitting on your couch without a bunch of USB extensions running across the room. Have one mounted in your wall next to your couch.
@masbo99: or better: onto a wall next to your computer

i love the idea. i think it would look pretty cool if it was properly mounted/incorporated into your desk, without a visible cable.

Another product that shouldn't have made it's way to the shelf.

That blurb had some very eloquent language in it Mark.. /golfclap.
If you see something like this on top of a desk and think it's a power outlet, you probably deserve to get electrocuted anyways.
