My first gen Chocolate has a huge crack down the middle of the screen. After taking it on a cruise (bad idea) moisture got into the screen so now I can't use it. Don't have pics.

I strongly recommend a rubber case for your phone. I never have any problem get the phone in and out. I never drop my phone because the protected case have a rubbery feel.

One time I left my phone on top my car and drove home. Guess what prevent it from slipping down?

Long time reader first time poster, this is my curve after i got an iPhone. I decided kill it with my airsoft sniper rifle at 20yds. after uising it for a hockey puck. surprisingly it still kinda works.

Here's the front of my iphone. I'm lucky that it only shattered above the screen. Still works fine, minus a sleep/wake button (jailbroken iphone + quicklock.app fixes that)

Umm... is there a way to make this so potential insurers or phone providers can't see this? They probably won't handle this well, and probably wouldn't offer nice phones to anyone here.

My worst is that I had a BlackBerry Curve. Then it met my friend's pool. Now I no longer have a BlackBerry Curve. :P

One friend of mine has broken three different phones in the past year, and has now just thrown in the towel and got a ruggedized dumbphone that looks terrible but will probably never break.

@92BuickLeSabre: Most of my pants and shorts (Gap and Old Navy, so one in the same) have a small pocket within the hip pocket that fit my LG Chocolate v2 perfectly. Keeps things in order.

I'm surprised they don't already make pants with slightly larger "coin/key" internal pockets in the front for phones.

You forgot to mention (or show) Adam's iPhone after the great vaporizer debacle of 4/20/09.

My friend had a Samsung UpStage we tried to destroy. We threw it out of my car doing ~55 on a turn and it hit a sign then the road. We went back after our outing to find it and it had not a single crack on the screen. Another friend later turned it into a flip phone.

I dropped my Touch Pro while running to get my car in the rain. I was going to see Drag Me To Hell - which was awesome. Anyway the stupid velcro on the stupid hip holster is shite so it flew right out..It's scratched and busted a bit but still works.. but I can't take a pic of the phone with it's own cam.. argh!

@lostarchitect: Completely agree with the hip pocket and no other objects in that pocket statement. I do want to point out that you want to have your LCD screen facing towards your hip instead of outwards because if you ever hit any edge it won't bust up your screen (had that happen before).

As you can see, there is a terrible smudge at the top of the screen. The "0" is wearing out, and some of the diamonds just aren't sparkling right!

My iPhone was pristine after a year of being naked in my pocket. My RAZR was pristine after 2 years. My old Samsung crap-phone still looks fine. My old StarTAC never got a ding. Even my Yoda-green Nokia phone was still in great shape after regular use.

Tell John to take better care of his shit.

I think I'm alone amongst all my friends in that my cell phones are always kept in good shape. Here's my secret:
1. put it in your hip pocket.
2. don't put anything else in that pocket.
3. don't use a fucking case, you don't need that shit. it just scratches everything up and makes it hard to get in and out of your pocket, increasing the likelihood that you'll drop it.

with verizon when they used to simply replace phones i broke 47 with them. biking lakes concerts and a couple toilets and a phone suicide. (it vibrated off the dock) this is nothing. since i got my iphone cases keep them nice and safe. only broken two : )
