@Slap Bet: You have to condition the battery if you are having battery issues with the 3GS. Don't baby the battery all the time and charge it when it is like 75%; that's not good. Use the phone until the battery drains and the phone shuts off, and then keep it on the charger until it is 100%. Do this about once or twice every month; and you will get really good battery life.

@Gustaf Hultman: How about, instead of a password on the phone, make "Enable Find My iPhone" a setting that can only be enabled or disabled from your Mobile Me account. This way thieves will have no clue if tracking is enabled for the phone (if they even know to look for it in the first place) and they will also have way at all to disable tracking from the phone itself even if they are able to figure out your PIN, etc.

Also, it needs to work regardless of whether Location Services are enabled or not on the phone (Pressing the Find My iPhone" button on the Mobile Me site could contact the phone and enable Location Services if they are disabled, then start trying to locate it.)

@Antonio Jorge Ferreira: I have to disagree with your here. I think a 3.0.1 release would denote some bug fixes with no new features. 3.1 makes sense for a few more features. Version numbers can be subject to a lot of opinion though.

@Evilhomer: If you have a PIN that incentivizes the thief to wipe the iPhone, rendering it unable to track online, but if you leave it unlocked, the thief probably won't wipe it (at least not immediately) and you will be able to track it. The problem with the second scenario is that the thief could disable tracking, which is why apple should enable an option to leave the phone unlocked and just lock the tracking toggle.

@snitch: seems sort of hit or miss... some people i know with 3GS's have terrible battery life, others don't. Testing hasn't turned up anything yet, anyone else seen this?

it would be nice to see Group Management (Creation, Editing, Filing) in the Phone app. currently the only way to do this is Microsoft Outlook.

I personally find the screen password annoying and a little too much for everyday use-as do many other iphone users i've talked to. So it's a shame that something designed to help you find your phone can be turned off so easily.

Great to hear, all I want is the ability to combine video clips into a single video. Then, my life will be complete (for now...) Doesn't seem like 3.1 adds that specifically, but giving additional API tools sounds like it's not far off. (C'mon developers! I just need a basic cut and combine tool!)

@trucknuts: I dislike Coverflow too, but only because the implementation is busted. If I'm in a playlist and tilt the phone sideways, Coverflow should only show the albums in the playlist, like it does in iTunes.

Instead, it persists in ALWAYS showing ALL of the albums on the phone, no matter where you are.

Apple, add a setting to disable the rotation! I don't want to text in landscape and I never use coverflow in the iPod.

I even made a "mono" headset for phone calls by clipping off the earphone without the switch/mic.

@SAN66: It's easy, go into settings and turn notifications off, Problem solve. But i do have to say that i have a 3GS and although i have 3 apps using Notifications, i don't have a problem with battery life.

MMS Features have been added back in although they dont work yet, and tethering seems to be working over bluetooth. Havent tried wired yet.
