@pastrychef:
I am still waiting on the dev team, I feel much better using there Jailbreaks.
ヽ(´ー`)ノ (NO MEANS YES)
@D.E.P.C. is on a Sexpedition: This. If you go to quickpwn.com, your going to a site that has absolutely nothing to do with the dev team, and probably just want's to make a quick buck off advertising.
Skyman747
this works great!
the only thing i'm not happy about is that most cydia apps are not updated for 3gs captability. lol
@ttech10: redsn0w was actually released the day after the 3GS came out. I jailbroke and unlocked my 2G that afternoon using redsn0w running the windows 7 RC. From what I read on the blog, it's the next version of quickpwn, which someone stated in this thread was cybersquatting on that site. Very easy to use, especially compared to flashing ROMs on HTC winmo phones...
i heart bacon hub
@Luke Smith: RC2?? how did i miss that?
@ttech10:
I agree. Some of those posters are totally spreading FUD.
Purplera1n was fast and easy to do. I'm glad geohot released it.
pastrychef
takes less than a few minutes - not a web exploit at all
enjoy it, works quite well.
kickace
@ttech10: I KNOW WTF? they are idiots. (not the Dev Team, the posters) I completely restored when I updated from the original purplera1n and the RC2 version of purplera1n (I didn't have to, I just did to be thorough) and it was flawless. This causes NO harm to device and is just as easy as restoring in iTunes like every other jailbreak methods (with exception to a few baseband downgrades in the beginning a year or so ago, some of those were tedious!!
I love the Dev-Team too, this just came out first and I couldn't resist. Winterboard DOES NOT work, but that's in the works. I'm sure Saurik will have it working soon.
@bobdobbs: Always get an adult to do the jailbreak for you.
amazingly simple, just don't install winterboard or qtweeter yet. Both crash iPhone into safe mode until un-installed via cydia (which HAULS ASS on 3GS) nice jailbreak and unlock!
@TechTuner: that post was a couple of days ago.
Daniel Rosenthal
I love how over on the Dev-Team Blog there are people spreading FUD about this JB causing long term damage to your iPhone.
Happy Independence Day, iPhone?
@Maximillian: true that!
@Nowell: Yeah, I mean what's up with a crew that specializes in hacking Apple products not having a Windows version? I mean....you know....come on.
@Nowell: I think they stopped doing releases under that name because someone is squatting on the url with that name.
Winterboard doesn't work.
Tested.
Sam Adams
Fast and easy. Not a fan of Freeze though. Keeps timing out mid download.
Scott Capsey
@Nowell: So make one.
It's not a web exploit at all. Where did gizmodo get that from? :S
It's a program...
tj01
Wow it was super smooth, took less than 5 minutes for me and works great. Just don't install winterboard its still buggy and Saurik has to fix it.
@bobdobbs: +1 to you good sir.
@bobdobbs: Or at your mom.
use what at your own risk? the jailbreak or the fireworks XD
fullyrandomtandem
worked for me last night. 2 small problems. 1. t-mobile keeps dropping signal ALOT and 2 Wifi keeps cutting out.
took 15+/- mins. props to geohot. i hope the dev team version is more stable.
chessyang
For a minute, I thought the title read "iPhone 3GS Jailbait".
Spent a good moment waiting for it to reboot, but it worked. Got cydia on here, and tryin' ta find mah jb apps!
I'd be glad to buy him a wootini.
I did it and all is working well. This jailbreak was far easier and much, much faster than anything Dev-Team ever came out with.
pastrychef
@Firebrand: A Titan against a Titan!!!
@Nowell: No prob. When I first read about it on their blog I wasn't sure what it was, just thought it was an update to the yellowsn0w.
I don't one on, but heard that a lot of people were successful
Amir Oulad
@Nowell:
It wasn't released by the dev team, but by Geohot who found it pathetic that the dev team wouldn't release the jailbreak till os 3.1
Amir Oulad
Just used the RC2 version on windows 7, worked fine.
RC2 has the kernel patches that were causing all the bugs in the first release apparently.
Luke Smith
I jail broke my 3gs earlier had a few problem at first but it works. yay!
@ttech10: Lol wow, Didn't ever see a blog post on their site for it, have just been checking the quickpwn page. TY
Nowell
ooo... PurpleRa1n vs RedSn0w vs Apple. Nice!
Firebrand
Just tried it and turns out it works. Alot easier than what I imagined.
@Nowell: It's called 'redsn0w' and has been out for like, a week.
If you've been waiting for I don't know why, they're both pretty much the exact same thing.
Just don't point the jailbreak at your face or, er, sumthin' like that...
Don't forget to run your anti-virus!
cant install any apps something about signature error or somecrap, its not good
Danny Arriola
For a couple of seconds this was the mystery post.
Thankfully I was still able to click the source.
Invisible-Echidna
I love how the dev team has managed to break the 3g, and the 3gs (even though they haven't released their 3gs yet), and still no windows version of quickpwn.
Nowell
It's working for me. Now, I'm waiting for Saurik to update the Winterboard app. SSH is working great. Nice job! Small file too!!
Magic Beans? Sure, I'll Buy Some!!
@MrFresh: A "few" problems...care to elaborate?
Does it slow the phone down noticeably like on previous generations?
