Hitachi SimpleTOUGH USB Drive Shrugs Off 3 Metre Freefalls

4:47PM July 17, 2009 | Brian Lam

Another rugged drive. This one good for 3 metre falls, and up to a ton of weight. And it has an integrated USB cable. Well, I’m impressed. Comes in sizes from 250-500GB for $US100-$140. [SimpleTech via GizMag]

My Hitachi SimpleTough External Harddrive is not being recognized by my computer. It is only a couple of months old. :(-

Same thing here…I’ve done some research and it appears it’s a fatal design flaw. The case might be “rugged” but the integrated usb/power is pathetic. Look on Amazon…it’s happening to everyone. This product should be recalled. That doesn’t save your data but it might save you some time.

This product is a complete failure. Just a month old and it no longer works. Read the Amazon reviews on this. What a waste of time and money. would never buy another Hitachi product… and I will spread the news.
