G1 Spotted Running HTC Sense, The Latest Android Skin
Chances are (about 99.9999%) that you don’t have access to the HTC Hero just yet, but that doesn’t mean you can’t run its famed HTC Sense Android skin.
According to some Italian software enthusiasts, it is possible to flash your G1 with their SuperHERO ROM, a port of the HTC Hero’s firmware. Aside from the OS skin’s beautiful graphics and animations, SuperHERO will activate G1 multitouch that allows you to zoom into webpages a la iPhone.
Of course, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi aren’t all that functional with this firmware, and the OS can get a bit laggy and light on memory. So you’ll need take the good with the bad should you decide to hack your G1. [HD Blog via androidguys]

This build is old.
Laggy and crappy.
How can anybody for the sake of productivity even try to run such piece of shit software? I installed it did the ext2 parition overclocked my g1, swapper optimized rosie.apk worked on the overall memory consumption and it lagged too much for daily use.
On my android it is essential to have GV running at all times. Is my way of communication

@Ammar Tawabini: It is all about time to market. Get on the market first, get market shares, then fix the hardware/software. This is why HTC is one of the most profitable mobile handset companies on the planet.
Besides, Android is hardly a finished platform. It'll get better.

Does it work on the upcoming HTC magic G2?
chyang888
Yea, it's not the hardware that HTC can't design right.. It is the software and their way of building their slow a** Apps on top of the Mobile OS.

@Ammar Tawabini: You're pretty sure that HTC has the worst *phone software.*
HTC Sense is the slowest interface ever, actually anything HTC makes is so slow.. check out when he dragged the clock to the tool bar.. look how slow it was.. and do not just tell me because it is a BETA version. Its not the first time HTC is trying to do such thing.. they did it on Windows Mobile 6.1 with their touch-responsive TouchFLO that actually has nothing to do with responsivity. I thought back then that Windows Mobile sucks and slow.. it turned out that HTC has the worst software engineers ever, I bet you if Mac puts its hands on a piece of hardware like that, it will make it glow. I'm not saying I am a big fan of the iPhone. I tried every single phone and I am pretty sure that so far HTC has the worst phones ever.

can anyone tell me the music in this video?? shazam can't come up with it...
I hate this interface - stock Android all the way!
@Baldyman1966 is Holding out for a Hero: iSeriously
Why is it that any time Steve Jobs Farts it makes Giz, but they are 3-4 Weeks behind with Android news?
haha, u need the special spl to run this... lol but haha its easy to do. get the jachero fw its the full fw and its much faster.
Superhero has been out for a while, we've now got the final Hero firmware, multi-touch flash enabled browser and all.
Only issue is some massive load times on returning to the home screen... but the full firmware was only found and ported yesterday.

What a crappy phone... I have tried it without any add-ons - still sucks.
@raptorrapture: Thumb rings and porno wipes both.

@Vroomtrap: Atari 2600 has to redraw the display with every vsync since it has only a 1 line framebuffer. It's as fast as it gets on an NTSC TV.
dingus
Hahahaha! Atari renders faster than that.
Thumb-rings = douche-baggery
The UI looks nice, but it should be on a faster phone..

@Technogen: How do you like it so far? Anything you can tell us that you love or dislike about the UI? It looks really awesome from everything I've seen so far.
@Killjoy: Oh ok, that makes sense. I wasn't aware the G1 was under-clocked by default.
@Technogen: Yeah, G1's were running rosie before we ever saw it on the Hero.

@OCEntertainment: Assuming you're talking about using a G1, it's pretty hard to brick it just by throwing on a ROM that's been user-tested by the community. If it makes you feel better, part of the rooting process involves installing an "unbricker."
@Technogen: Thanks for the tip, Technogen! I'll be sure to check that out when I get home.
@[forum.xda-developers.com] welcome to xda, have a read it tells you all about how to fix everything and the new roms and such.
Technogen
Want. Hard.
Do I dare take the plunge? Anybody with words of advice on the ability to restore your phone if I bork this project?
The Italian software enthusiasts aren't blowing smoke.
@[forum.xda-developers.com] rom, its not as good as JAC's.
Technogen
@teexcue: Killing the underclock makes quite a bit of difference.
@teexcue: I'll have you know my ballz are not slow.
Leonce
@[forum.xda-developers.com] Any of the "HERO" roms have it.
Technogen
This has been out for a while guys, I commented it on the last time you posted about the UI. I currently have it running. And it runs a bit faster then the one shown in this video.
Technogen
Well now I understand why HTC wouldn't port it to the G1: it's slow as ballz.
