Dell Mini 10 Gets Full Geolocation, Navigation Options

Really, what is the use for an integrated GPS in a netbook? I'm trying to think of use cases and I can't. I would much rather have a GPS in my phone or dSLR. I don't want to have to wait for my netbook to boot to check my coordinates...

I bought my baseline Mini 10 for $240 on ebay, and I love it, I use it for what it is. Alot of people are buying this thing as a Laptop, and it sadly is not, it is a Netbook, and as soon as people realize this, everything will work out for the better for them. I carry it around in my truck and tether to my Blackberry. I do a little work and surf the net.. nothing more.

@afw: The Mini 10v is upgradeable to 2gb.

So I add it up. $500 for loaded mini 10 with out the TV tuner ($50) or the gps ($??).
To me the selling points are the high rez screen and the hdmi port. I would like the see a linux version with every option for and 2GB ram just to mess with microsoft's silly rules.
Remember the mini 10 shipped originally with vista so it got a bad rap with only the 1GB or ram.

@Maori_Yelir: can you point me to the info on how to hackintosh the 10v? or is it the same process as toshing the mini9?

These things are too small for my hands. I'll wait for the Mini 15.

@Stephen Herron: That's exactly my problem, the keyboard is just too tiny. Other than that it's a terrific little machine. The 10's keyboard is 92% of full size, but the non-upgradable RAM is a deal-killer.

Dang, from the thumbnail, I thought that whole thing was the screen.

I have a Dell Mini 9. I replaced the keyboard with the International version (so my apostrophe key would be in the right place). I like it, a lot, but the keyboard is just too small to be practical. I've tried to synch my Apple Bluetooth keyboard to it, but to no avail.

I have been tempted by the 10, but with the upcoming Mini 11, I may wait to see how that one is specced. Being able to upgrade RAM is essential. The 85% sized keyboard would be nicer than the 9's.

@Serolf Divad: That's OK. I can install Win7 myself. I'm still just floored that Dell would even sell something with soldered memory.

So why did the mini 9s go away?

@Line4Guy: Mini 10 or Mini 10v? The 10v can be opened up and upgraded. It's a 15 step process but it's doable.

@afw: I sent my mini-10 back over this. It was a gift for the Mrs., and it was slower than my Pentium 4.

They'll probably offer 2GB or RAM on a Linux variant, but not on an XP variant. Problem is Microsoft won't allow sales of XP Home on netbooks with larger than 1 GB RAM.

Any word on when they'll offer 2GB of RAM? Once they do that, I'm in, and my mini 9 goes on eBay.

Well, I plan on ordering it, soon, but, not that I would need all that skytell stuff on it, to begin with....drive is gonna be wiped clean, anyways.

I love my Mini 9, but the Mini 10 is showing definite possibilities. Just a shame it's a nightmare to upgrade the RAM. I also hate the weird screen resolution. I wish Dell had just gone with 1024 x 600 like everyone else.
