Activate Multitouch Gestures In Firefox 3.5
During the Firefox 3.5 beta, a few people stumbled upon a neat, unadvertised feature. By twisting their fingers on a Macbook’s multitouch pad, they were able to roll through their loaded tabs. But Firefox 3.5 (official) deactivated the trick.
Luckily, as Crunchgear explains, the multitouch trick can be reactivated! You can read the very simple instructions over at their site, then realise that you can actually modify the settings to use gestures beyond the twist (like a three-finger swipe). But until we see incorporation of middle-finger-activated autotrolling, we’re holding our excitement at bay. [Crunchgear]

I've been enjoying this for a while thanks to MultiClutch. I don't see why it isn't more popular. In my experience it's been bug free and I definitely recommend it for anybody with a unibody MacBook.

For me the 3 finger forward and back (plus the speed) was what was holding me to Safari. I downloaded 3.5 and it just worked. I installed a Safari theme (because I think it is more space efficient than the standard FF one) and now FF is once again my main browser on the mac. (It always was on Linux and Windows)

@VideoVampire: Yes, speaking in extremes will totally fix your problem.
I'm able to use them just fine, it's just that rotating can be difficult, forming that awkward claw with one hand and trying to switch tabs with that. I prefer assigning tab switching to the three finger swipe. But all of the other gestures work great for me, and really add to my productivity.
@jayteemo: Depends on which MBP you have. If it's got a multitouch trackpad (summer 08) then you should be good. Same goes for MacBook Airs, those should all be fine. But before that, it looks like a no-go since the hardware itself isn't multitouch.
@ThisIsSharksTerritory: Middle finger, as in the obscene gesture you give your fellow motorists when they are not driving as well as you. Auto-trolling, as in an internet troll.
Twas a joke, friend.
@VideoVampire: They work fine for me. Use then on my iphone and macbook regularly.
Those multi-touch gestures are annoying, they NEVER work right and always get in the way of a simple function

@ThisIsSharksTerritory: I think it's supposed to say auto rolling.
@jayteemo: it should still work but can't confirm for you.

@ThisIsSharksTerritory:
Automatic trolling, as in when people troll comments & forums I think?

nice...
will this work with the pre-unibody MBPs?
.I. Ok, that would have worked in Tahoma!
I don't get the last sentence
I've been using Multiclutch to switch between tabs and to go forward and backward with 3 finger gestures and it's worked like a charm.
