It’s a nice idea, since nobody suspects something as basic as an electrical socket might be spying on them. But what in the hell kind of communist socket is that?
Here in America, sockets look like little surprised faces without noses, so this weird combination/Chinese socket would probably arouse more suspicion than a camera hidden in a tie or a pair of glasses or whatever. It captures video at 648×480 resolution as well as audio onto a microSD card, and can be mounted just about anywhere. Anywhere, that is, where they use whatever kind of outlet this is. It’s available now for $US64. [Brando via Crunchgear]

Sunday, June 7, 2009 at 9:31 PMThis is a multi-plug socket. It can take pretty much any electrical plug in the world. It’s quite common in Asia as quite a lot of standards are in use there. Just be aware of 110v vs 220v

It is a common universal layout.

Monday, June 8, 2009 at 11:35 AMThat’s a universal socket, like they often have in hotel bathrooms so you can plug your shaver in. Which is a bit creepy – maybe they’re marketing to hotels?
