Giant Wraparound Screen Shows Air Traffic In Real-Time

This installation shows all 16,000 of Lufthansa’s planes at once, all projected in 3D on a 180-degree, 46-foot-wide screen. And damn is it cool

As you can see in the video, it’s all controllable in real-time. I’m not sure what they’ve got running this setup and these screens, but it’s certainly powerful. And yeah, all the flight visualisations are awesome, I’d really love to get a game of Call of Duty rocking on this setup. [Fubiz via NotCot]

This is as fake as they get. Obviously this is some Hollywood concept of how business works. The reality, I am afraid is usually far more mundane. TNT did this 20-odd years ago for an ad they ran indicating they knew where your parcel was from an Australian map. It was crap then and I’m afraid crap now.

The benefit of having something like this just isn’t there, especially when you consider the cost of programming, installing and maintaining such a behemoth.

All the above being said, I wish I could get my hands on this now!

cool wall, but looks like only 1 person can control it at one time. Probably better off giving the same insane amount of information to multiple people each using their own 3d glasses.
