Dealzmodo: Buy New Samsung TV, Get 2nd Smaller TV Free
It’s end of financial year, so we’re starting to see some pretty decent deals hitting shelves. Like Samsung giving away a bonus 22-inch LCD when you pick up a 2009 model LCD or plasma bigger than 40 inches.
From June 20 until the end of July, or until the warehouse of 15,000 22-inch Series 4 LCDs runs out, Samsung will give you the bonus mini TV if you pick up a selected Series 6, Series 7 and Series 8 LED TVs, Series 6 and Series 7 LCD TVs and Series 6 and Series 8 Plasma TVs. It’s not quite free though – you’ll need to pay a $33 postage and handling fee, but that’s still a pretty good deal for a 22-inch TV.

Don’t hold your breath waiting for your 22inch takes about 3mths for Samsung to get it out to you, although hopefully they have streamlined the process somewhat?
Worth the wait regardless
I bought a 40inch HD. It had been around a month until I checked my emails that Samsung canceled my claim 2 days after they received my original purchase receipt. The email said – “your claim has been canceled because.” – That was it. I rang them and they said they didn’t received my receipt.
My claim was registered on the 12th July,
the tracking of express post said they received the reciept on the 14th July,
and on the 16th July my claim was canceled.
What the?
I only read these emails a month later and hit the roof. Luckily I had a copy of the receipt to send them. They processed it on the 18th August as received. Still waiting for the TV – 3rd September.
Be careful, I think they will try and scam out of as many claims as possible.
i did a LG 47″ scarlet for my misses and they gave us the 24″ redemption thingy too like samsung, took them 3 weeks, was pretty good since we got the application a couple of days before the promotion ran out.
Damn, I got my hopes up when I heard this one. Unfortunately I bought my 40″ a couple of days before the promotion period started. :(
Anyone know if you get this deal if you bought your samsung through the good guys, or is it only if you go through samsung directly?
The 22″ is worth maybe $300 which is not a fair compensation for the rip-off between US and AUS prices!
In US the LN55B650 RRP is USD$2,999 (AUD$3,750) but here the LA55B650 RRP is AUD$4,699. I know better than to pay full price, but even so I can’t help think that we Australians are being ripped off.
Can Gizmodo get a response from Samsung?
I’ve had a response from Samsung:
Every time a product is released it’s priced relative to population and projected sales. It not something relative to Samsung, if you were to pick almost any electronic equipment or product, you will tend to find the smaller the population, the higher the retail. For instance almost all electronics in New Zealand, cost more than Australia again, reason being, smaller population restricts reduction of costing to level of a country with a larger consumer base.
