Atom-Based Ferrari Makes Up for Lack of Horsepower With Extreme Levels of Novelty

There really isn’t a whole lot that distinguishes a conference like Computex from a real life version of the Ben Heck forums: yesterday, we saw a PC in a vase; today, an Atom-based net-top in a Ferrari.

We don’t know much about this mini-Modena, except that it’s got netbookish guts and some definite kid appeal. And the people who made this thing really committed to it, custom-molding the body and optical drive tray, all in the honourable service of whimsy. For this, I cannot fault them. [Engadget]

I bought my teenage son one of these cars from Target for $60 for Christmas. It is a clock radio with a CD drive built-in as shown with a remote to control the audio. The lights even work when it is turned on. I’d say the one with the PC in it shown above was based on this arther than custom moulding the bumber for the optical drive tray. That’s not to say the one above isn’t sweet. It’s just that it may not have taken as much effort as you think.
