apple store1.jpgIf you’re a Queenslander looking for some Apple Store love, get ready for some action. Opening on Saturday May 9, Apple’s fourth Australian retail store is opening on the Gold Coast, at Robina Town Centre. Like the other stores, there will be a heap of courses and people telling you all about Apple products.

Considering that we’re in a recession, a fourth store in 12 months is a pretty brave move on Apple’s part. If anyone heads to the opening this weekend, let us know what it’s like.

Gold Coast of all places? Why do you mock us Apple? And Robina? That’s half way to Tasmania from Brisbane. >

    “Considering that we’re in a recession…”

Haha, yeah, 7 days ago I would’ve agreed. On Friday, I was in the Chadstone Apple store at 2PM. The store had around 40 customers in it! Throw in the ~15 or so staff and the store was busting at the seams!

All other Chadstone’s stores were trading as normal but the Apple Store was packed! Apple seem to be somewhat exempt from the recession.

Seriously? Why Queensland? Why not Victoria.

Not for my personal reasons; I’m from Perth… but Melbourne just makes so much more sense for the next location of an Apple Store.

Well, looks like I’m a bit out of the (1 infinite) loop. I had no idea there were already a store in Victoria. It would have been nice to know that when I was there a week ago.

Why not Qld and why not Robina. The shopping centre is now the biggest in Australia and the apple store will make a great addition. I’ll be checking it out this weekend.

Got to put it those Apple folk, they know how to run a good store. There’s never any pressure to buy and I love just walking in as many times as I like to test out all the new gadgets, any questions answered. But what’s with the Gold Coast? Sure it’s got a higher-income demographic, but Brisbane’s got the population. Macs don’t just serve the wealthy, they are very affordable computers. These stores are great because they educate people about Mac more and change peoples ideas and beliefs. We’ve been able to buy online for ages now, stores take it to the kids, mums and dads.

As much as I would love to see an official mac store in downtown Brisbane it already has 2 next byte mac shops downtown and another mac shop 2 suburbs away. So will we ever see a mac shop in Brisbane .. not likely.

Honestly, the Gold Coast. Why the Gold Coast? I’ll stick to buying off the Apple Store online and waiting a couple of days rather than driving down from Brisbane to bloody Robina.
The cost for shipping and a few days waiting is more than made up for by not having to drive through the horrendous traffic, lose half a day, go through half a tank of petrol, and then find myself having to visit a city I avoid like the plague.
    Bad choice Apple. :-(
