24 Hour Time Lapse of Earth Taken From a Satellite Shows Terrestrial Eclipse

This is a timelapse video of Earth over the course of 24 hours taken by the EchoStar 11 Satellite. I’m such a sucker for this stuff. [YouTube via Dark Roasted Blend]
The “stars” are probably either lens reflection artifacts or plain old dirt – there’s a lot of crap floating around out there, so I imagine the outer window could get a bit gritty.
The reason it’s only visible in the middle of the sequence is because the two light sources (the sun, and its light reflected from the earth) are dark, so the camera automatically cranks open the aperture, showing dim spots that couldn’t be seen otherwise.
Just my guess, anyway. No doubt the Moon Hoax wankers will have a different explanation…
