That there picture is my ticket to get into the World Premiere of Star Trek tonight. But it’s not the entire story – tomorrow I’ll be sitting down with Chris Pine (Kirk), Zachary Quinto (Spock), John Cho (Sulu) and Director JJ Abrams. What questions should I ask them?

Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at 12:31 PMask them if they think the “modernised” technology that we will see (not special effects, but control knobs etc) that predates the original star trek is a good or a bad thing. and also, ask them how awesome eric bana is.

Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at 2:59 PMI would ask them how they felt about that first photo for the movie that was released making them look so incredibly camp!

Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at 3:05 PMI would ask JJ:
What made you choose Star Trek as the basis for a movie considering there have been so many already and the last few weren’t that well received and also considering the Enterprise series was cancelled not that long ago?
Were you worried about any backlash from the fan base or disinterest from non-fans? Do you just like a challenge?
How did you approach the casting? There are a few interesting choices. Were you more concerned with getting actors who were similar to the originals or looking for people who could bring something new to the roles?
I would ask Chris Pine:
Did you study…much of…William Shatners…earlier work…to emulate him….as best….you could?
Did you get to say “beam me up Scotty”?
The only other thing is seeing the cast members are reasonably young considering the Star Trek history ask them what they knew of Star Trek before they went for the roles and what they did to find out about the characters e.g. Star Trek TOS marathons.

Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at 10:35 PMJust saw Star Trek World Premiere! Can’t wait to see it again, and again, and again. A pity I have to wait 1 month until general release. The World Premiere at the Sydney Opera House was phenomenal. Star Trek is back on the scene again after languishing for a little while………..words are not enough to convey how fantastically superb it is!

Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 8:17 AMSaw it last night too and all I can really say is WOW.
You can even forget that its Trek, its just brilliant high action scifi.
I highly recommend it and you dont have to worry about your non-Trek friends being bored because they dont know the 40 year back story.
I never thought I would say this but great move Paramount!
