Vodafone Offering 8GB iPhone 3G For $0 Upfront On $69 Cap Plan Over 24 Months

Gizmodo AU

iphone vodafone.jpgThe Vodafone press release calls this “The best deal on an Apple iPhone 3G”. I just wonder if they’re trying to clear shelf space for an upcoming model…The deal sounds pretty sweet – the iPhone 3G free upfront on a reasonable $69 cap, which gives you $340 worth of voice calls and 250MB of included data. But it’s on a 24 month contract, and that means you’re likely to see two hardware refreshes from Apple before you’re off contract.

That’s not to say that you shouldn’t jump on this if you’re really keen on grabbing the current gen iPhone – it’s just a subtle recommendation that if you can hold off for another 3 months, you’ll probably be able to get the even newer version, which may or may bot have 802.11n support and a 3.2MP camera. The choice is yours.

Supply and demand people! Why give us such an advanced phone but stuff all cap for calls and text and bugger all data per month? It’s not really worth it.

Isn’t Virgin’s deal better than this… $70 for $520 worth of calls and 1GB of data?
Yes, you are with Optus as opposed to Voda… but is there that much of a difference?

Tristan, yes the $70 Virgin offer is much better, for only $1 more.

Another better and cheaper plan is the $45 Virgin cap, plus $10 cap for 200mb, plus $10/m for the phone. A total of $65/m with 350mb data and $320 calls.

Also, it might be of interest to the iPhone rumour crowd that the Virgin site currently says the 16gb white and 8gb black iPhones are currently unavailable.

Pity that on Optus, for a $1 less you can get a 16GB phone, twice the data and $10 extra credit. Best deal? Hell no.
