News doesn’t get much worse than this for the Zunes and Sansas of the world: a whopping 0% of surveyed teens planned on buying their devices, with 100% wanting an iPod in the coming year.
Piper Jaffray’s biannual Teen Survey, in its eighth year, shows a serious drop off in interest for the Zune and Sansa. From last year’s not-great 15% figure to this year’s unfathomable 0%, it’s just ugly.
But are these numbers accurate? For one, SanDisk had some decent numbers around 2007, but this survey says they peaked at 4%. It’s certainly possible that SanDisk sold all of its products to adults and not teens, which would explain the discrepancy, but it still seems a bit fishy.
But in any case, Apple has just got to love seeing numbers like this. The age of iPod’s total dominance over the PMP scene won’t last forever, but with numbers like this it isn’t ending anytime soon either. [Apple Insider via Crave]

Perhaps you should do a survey on the 50+ age group. I detest apple products (overpriced proprietary rubbish)and much prefer other players which are easier to use and enable me to download my mp3 converted vinyl records without hassle. You might also want to note that my age group has the purchasing power which manufacturers / retailers should be tapping into. I have diabetes and need to walk daily. My mp3 player makes my walking a joy.

I’d rather an ipod with a Wolfson DAC (digital to analogue converter) than an iRiver with a DAC that sounds like it was pulled from some alarm clock.
Oh, and don’t forget to throw away the stock ipod earbuds and get shure or sennheiser earbuds instead.

I own a Sansa, and have owned 2 before that all of which years later are running they are reliable little players, which can be really hard to track down, I’ve explained and explained why iPods are horrible and what faults they have but no-one ever pays any attention and coming from someone who works with technology, I know what works and what lasts, iPod’s don’t. plus they are over priced, why Teens are not tuned in I have no idea, in my day we researched and found out what was best for our needs, things aren’t that way anymore.
