Shocking: New Microsoft Ad Implies Macs Are Inferior

Microsoft’s new Lauren is a tech-savvy engineer with a complicated, foreign name, tasked with finding a laptop that’ll address his needs for under $US1,500. You’ll never guess what this Microsoft-paid probable-actor decided to buy.

That’s right, it’s a not-Mac! I mean, it’s an HP! It’s hard to keep track, since the only complaint the commercial brings up is that Giampaolo (henceforth referred to as “John”) wants to pay for the components, and not the brand. And that’s a fairly reasonable point of view, according to our study of the infamous “Apple Tax.” It’s true, John simply cannot buy a new MacBook with, say, 4GB of memory for under $US1,500. But as any Apple fanboy knows, with Apple, your premium pays for the software, and for Microsoft (primarily a software company!) to take the position that software has no impact on value is an odd choice.

Listen up, Microsoft. I’m typing this on an HP laptop running Windows 7, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I like Windows, and not just because I’m too cheap or not cool enough to own a Mac (both are true, but neither is relevant). So how about you find something to campaign on that doesn’t double as an insult, like “PCs are cheap,” eh? [YouTube]

So true Macs suck. Lets see first anything Apple you pay more why? Their Power PC processors were dumped for well Intel, they even gave up on there own hardware (to make more profit), and you still pay more. Ok more money same cpus and chipsets as a PC,hmmm? You can run XP or Vista on a mac, got to wonder there don’t you. Like Apple might not have done it on purpose but there you have it XP runs on a mac. Lets play a game on our mac. What its not written for OSX, well I can run it in WINE. But wait I have to pay for a Windows emulator and my $3000 mac has only a Nvidia 5200FX entry level (for a PC) display card. Apple tax all right. I have been working with computers for 30 years and its always been like this. In the 80s Macs were such the vogue for Desktop publishing and alike. I made a news letter every week in Ventura under GEM (looks and works like like mac OS6) almost exactly the same as on a Mac. And yes even then the whole setup was cheaper than a Mac, and the screen was bigger and my mouse had 3 buttons!
