Palm Pre Shipping from China to US for June 7th Release?
Until Palm gives us a release date for the Pre, we plan on obsessively combing every rumour we can find…and combine them into ridiculously speculated headlines.
Rumour of the Day #1
Palm has already started shipping Pres from China to the US. This in itself doesn’t point to a specific release date, but the handsets are said to be ready for distribution—they contain the Pre’s final release firmware.
Rumour of the Day #2
According to Sprint Gurus forums, May 17th won’t be the release date of the Pre. Instead, it could come June 7th…or on a totally different, undisclosed date.
This is fun, isn’t it? [Everythingpre and Sprint Gurus via PrelCentral and PrelCentral]

I’ve been a long time Palm user, and was very disappointed when, to use the Palm Treo 750 I had to convert to Windows Mobile and Outlook. Accordingly I’ve been hanging out for the Pre so that I can use a non-Windows device again (and particularly one that has such a slick OS!).
Imagine my disappointment when I discovered that it won’t be able to sync locally, only with the Cloud! I find this inexplicable. I can understand having the option to do this but why not give us the option to sync locally as well?
Without this ability I won’t purchase the Pre, as I’ll never entrust my personal data to the Cloud.
PS: What a convoluted and quirky system you have for verifying posts – it didn’t even show up at first, and then took several attempts to prove I was human!
I have been waiting for the Palm Pre to be released. I can’t wait anymore. I really needed a new phone. So today I’ve spent the money on a phone. Guess I won’t be getting the Pre either. Sorry Palm, you took too long!
