I've never really cared about the bluray special features BD live stuff. honestly, if i could save $50 if i only had to sacrifice 2.0, I would without hesitation. as for price, its interesting in Aus as prices from any online source - even ebay - are almost always more expensive than proper retail stores. video ezy (NOT ezydvd) and big W have some good prices. you shouldn't have to pay over $40 for any single movie, new blockbuster movie releases are usually $32 initially at big W and jb hifi, 2 for $50 or simply $25 each seems to be the new deal going round replacing the 3 for 2 deals of old. So most the blurays I've bought recently range from $32 to $25. one last tip, if there is a special somewhere - like big w - but they are sold out, remember David Jones will price match anything.

Another aside, one feature you might look for in a new player is DLNA - the ability to play video files over the network from a computer or server - if you don't have this already, and it is something you are interested in, it might be worth getting it all bundled in to a new bluray player.

btw, if HD streaming over the net is meant to make bluray obsolete, wouldn't SD streaming have made DVDs obsolete by now?

Thankfully we won't be jumping into Blu-Ray until next year, so there's plenty of time for things to get sorted...if not, we'll stick to DVD.

As someone who's about to take the plunge with a BD player, any articles like this on the topic are most welcome.
