Cassette To Digital USB Gadget Preserves Milli Vanilli For Eternity

If, for some strange reason, you still have tons of cassettes lying around, this USB gadget from Japanese company Novac will help you convert them to MP3, WMA or WAV files.

The MV-CM001U can store MP3 and WMA files in 32/64/128/192/320kbps sizes, it features a 1.5W speaker and it has a surprisingly attractive wooden design. The device is only compatible with Windows XP or Vista, which is unfortunate because most of the people who would need it are probably still running Windows 98 or lower. He he – just ordered one of these at Tesora.com.au – http://www.tesora.com.au/USB-Cassette-Tape-MP3-Converter__1001.htm. Can’t wait to convert all my classic cassingles! Errr….and there’s certainly no Milli Vanilli – I’ve already got that on CD ;-)

The USB Cassette Tape MP3 Converter is well built and has a good speaker. However, it plays the tape in only one direction (no auto-reverse), and the free Audacity software provided cannot be set to stop recording when the tape has finished (I suggest using the free programme Aktiv MP3 Recorder, which does allow this). The instructions are in very poor English, and contain several errors (for the correct instructions, Google on: audacity transferring tapes and records).
