Palm’s Sugar Daddy Serves Up Another Load of iPhone Trash Talk

Roger McNamee, the long-haired, gadget belt-wearing founder of Elevation Partners investment group implied that the Palm Pre—in which he’s investing in—will make iPhone owners switch over when their contracts expire in June.

Bloomberg writes:

“You know the beautiful thing: June 29, 2009, is the two- year anniversary of the first shipment of the iPhone,” McNamee said today in an interview in San Francisco. “Not one of those people will still be using an iPhone a month later.”

While this may or may not have some validity (the Pre is a beautiful phone), Boss McNamee omitted a couple of details about his potential iPhone killer here: a fair amount of initial iPhone buyers almost certainly upgraded to the iPhone 3G last summer (new two year contract!), and they won’t all switch to the Pre. SO YEAH, WHAT, ROG?! NOT SO CONFIDENT ABOUT THAT NOW, ARE YA?! [Bloomberg via Electronista](Photo courtesy of Smart Phone Fanatics)

    I wouldn’t get a Palm Pre…
I have an iPhone; but it isn’t on contract…
If I were going to get a new phone (which I wouldn’t), I would wait for the HTC Magic.
    McNamee is way too confident…
That’s like Bill Gates or Steve Balmer saying, “Hey, we have windows 7. When it ships, all the Mac users are gonna go and buy PCs…” ha…yeahh…it isn’t THAT good :P
